The wooden tulips placed in the worship area windows are symbolic of the T.U.L.I.P. acronym which stands for the “Five Points of Calvanism.” These five points, originally set forth by opponents of the reformed faith, are intended to be a short-hand summary of the essential points of reformed doctrine. They are:

Total Depravity: Which refers to the fallen state of all mankind stemming from Adam’s original sin;

Unconditional Election: Which refers to the gracious action of God in choosing, or electing, a number of the fallen for redemption without reference to any merit or meritorious condition on the part of those elected;

Limited Atonement: Which refers to the sacrificial atonement of Christ on the cross, providing justification for all of the elect, but only for the elect and not for that portion of mankind which is not elect and which remains reprobate;

Irresistible Grace: Which refers to the irresistible power of God which through His grace, causes the elect to freely choose Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior; and

Perseverance of the Saints: Which refers to the power of the Holy Spirit which upholds the elect and keeps them faithful to the end, that having been elected and justified, they may also be glorified, despite all earthly trials and temptations.

Today’s sermon (and previous messages) are available in MP3, CD format and downloads to your stick memory within ten minutes after the close of the service today.
